Rockin’ to the ’50s
The Racine Theatre Guild will be holding open auditions for the Signature Spotlight concert, “Rockin’ to the ’50s” on Monday, October 7 from 5:30 – 9 p.m.
ABOUT THE SHOW
Dig out your blue suede shoes and get ready to rock around the clock! The music of the 1950s is ready to wop bop a loo bop a wop bam boo! A time of innovation, of cultural shifts, and of music that would define generations to come, swing into the nostalgia from the energetic beats of rockabilly to the soulful rhythms of doo-wop. Get ready to groove and twist your way back in time as every note, every chord, and every beat resonates with the spirit of the 50’s.
Those interested in auditioning MUST sign-up for a 10-minute time slot by calling (262) 633-4218 or emailing boxoffice@racinetheatre.org. Cast and crew members are not required to be vaccinated, however, vaccinations are encouraged.
SOLOISTS/ CASTING INFO
Director Robert Kroes is looking for a diverse group of singers, ages 18 and above, for this cabaret. In addition, one Spotlight Star, a local high schooler, will be featured as part of the concert. No duets for the auditions will be accepted; however, the director may be programming duets for those who are chosen to perform.
AUDITION INFORMATION
Individuals of all levels of experience, ethnicities, and backgrounds are invited to audition. Performers should bring sheet music for two selections from a wide range of styles: musical theatre, rock, pop, swing, etc. from the 1950s.
Be prepared to sing 32 bar cuts of the pieces you’d like to perform in keys that best reflect your voice type. Performers must audition as soloists – no duets/trios/quartets. All songs should be performance ready. Those auditioning must bring in sheet music and an accompanist will be provided. No acapella or tracks allowed.
Schedules
Rehearsal Schedule
Rehearsals will only take place the week of November 10 – 13. Performers will be required to attend a coaching with the director prior to the rehearsal process. Coachings will be scheduled based on director/performer availability.
Performance: Thursday, November 14 at 7 p.m.
