THEATRE CLASS INSTRUCTORS

KARA ERNST- SCHALK ​is a professional performer, director and educator that ​has participated in over 50 productions at the Racine Theatre Guild. She has directed​ and ​choreographed ​many of ​our shows​, including​: ​Peter and the Starcatcher, ​Little Shop of Horrors, The Marvelous Wonderettes, The Rocky Horror Show, I Do! I Do!, A Grand Night for Singing and Lucky Stiff. ​She has produced many Children’s Theatre productions including ​Peter Pan, Seussical, Jr., ​ Let Down Your Hair, Rapunzel and The Big Bad Musical. Kara holds her BFA in Musical Theatre (UW-Stevens Point). She received her acting training at The Lee Strasburg Theatre and Film Institute and her dance training at The Milwaukee Ballet Studio, DanceWorks and Broadway Dance Center.

 

 

 

 

ROBERT KROES is an award winning teacher and performer from the Racine area. He holds his Bachelors of Music from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point with degrees in vocal performance, choral and general music education. Performance credits include: Les Miserables (Enjolras), Spamalot (Patsy), Little Shop of Horrors (Seymour), Lend Me a Tenor (Max), A Night at the Nutcracker (Eddie), Mary Poppins (Bert), The Addams Family (Lucas), and Jekyll & Hyde (Jekyll/Hyde). Equally at home off stage, Robert has been directing theatre in Southeastern Wisconsin since 2006. Robert is currently the director for the Union Grove choral and theatre department and serves as the Fine Arts Department lead at UG. Robert is extremely active at the Racine Theatre Guild where he has designed and run props, served as an ASM and PSM, directed and performed in Racine Children’s Theatre, taught theatre classes, and served on play reading committee. He also is the director of the new RTG Signature Spotlight Concert Series, vocal directed Grease at the RTG and has co-directed the RTG junior summer musicals for two years. Robert taught in Racine Unified for six years where he served as vocal director for McKinley Middle School and was awarded the Encore Award in teaching. Additionally, he teaches private voice and piano in his home studio.

 

 

 

 

 

TINA PAUKSTELIS A founding member of Upstart Theatre and many local credits, her favorite roles include May in Fool for Love, Lulu in The Birthday Party, and Veronica in God of Carnage, Margie in Good People, Cecily in The Importance of Being Earnest, and Nora in A Doll’s House. Tina holds a theatre degree from UW-Parkside and has been seen on the Racine Theatre Guild’s stage as Christina in Dancing at Lughnasa, Laura in Glass Menagerie, and Sonia in Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike.
