The Hobbit
The Racine Theatre Guild will be holding open auditions for The Hobbit on Monday, January 19, 2026 at 7 p.m. and Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at 7 p.m.
ABOUT THE SHOW
Embark on a Middle Earth journey with reluctant adventurer Bilbo Baggins. Coerced by Gandalf to join a band of dwarves looking for their treasure, Bilbo finds himself leaving his cozy home and facing treacherous terrain, greedy goblins, and dangerous dragons. The battles are fierce, weather disgusting, and food never plentiful enough, and yet the search for the Precious continues on. What’s a Hobbit to do? Bilbo learns he has more to offer than he could have ever thought in a story that captures imagination and magic at its heart.
ROLES / CASTING INFO
Looking for a large, diverse cast of any and all ethnicities and backgrounds. No experience is necessary to be part of the production.
Roles open to Adults and Children ages 10+. Ages and genders of most roles are flexible. Any puppeteers are also encouraged to attend.

AUDITION INFORMATION
Director Parker Muñoz will hold auditions at the Racine Theatre Guild. No appointments necessary and you need to only attend one of the days of auditions. Auditions consist of a cold reading from the script and a movement portion.
Scripts may be checked out in advance from the box office with a $10 deposit, which will be refunded when the script is returned.
Schedules
Rehearsal Schedule
Rehearsals will begin in February. RTG works try to coordinate everyone’s schedule and respect people’s time, so typically not everyone is called to every rehearsal. Most often, rehearsals will be Monday – Thursday starting at 6:30 p.m. with some weekends too.
Performance Schedule
The Hobbit will be performed April 10 – 19, 2026 plus have daytime outreach performances for local schools:
- Friday, April 10 – 7 p.m.
- Saturday, April 11 – 2 & 7 p.m.
- Sunday, April 12 – 2 p.m.
- Friday, April 17 – 7 p.m.
- Saturday, April 18 – 2 & 7 p.m.
- Sunday, April 19 – 2 p.m.
- Daytime outreach performances will be Weds, April 15, Thurs, April 16, Mon, April 20, Tues, April 21
