Auditions
Pippin
The Racine Theatre Guild will be holding open auditions for Pippin on Saturday, February 28 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and Sunday, March 1 from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.
ABOUT THE SHOW
There’s magic to do in one of Wicked creator Stephen Schwartz’s first musicals. A troupe of performers present, and sometimes manipulate, the story of Pippin. Son of Charlemagne, the young prince is in search of happiness, adventure, glory, and his purpose. The coming-of-age journey follows him as he goes to war, explores his passions, leads a revolution, and possibly finds love. Underneath all the spectacle and storytelling, Pippin soon discovers what is truly important in life. Winner of the 2013 Tony Award for Best Revival, the unforgettable lyrics and soaring music, including “Corner of the Sky” and “Love Song,” create a dazzling musical that will leave you spellbound.
Those interested in auditioning MUST sign-up for an hour time slot by calling (262) 633-4218 or emailing boxoffice@racinetheatre.org.
ROLES / CASTING INFO
Looking for a diverse cast of strong singers/performers of any and all ethnicities and backgrounds. No experience is necessary to be part of the production.
Female/Female Presenting
- Fastrada (mid 30s – 50s): Pippin’s conniving stepmother. A seductress, who is no stranger to deceit and betrayal, she is both sexy and smart.
- Berthe (60s – 80s): Pippin’s saucy grandmother. A brassy broad full of wisdom, grace, and sass. She tries to help Pippin and encourages him to live his life to the fullest.
- Catherine (mid 20s – 30s): A widow and mother. She is a hopeless romantic, who possesses graceful elegance. Encounters Pippin at his lowest point and eventually falls in love with him.
Male/Male Presenting
- Pippin (Ages 18 – late 20s): Our story’s young and confused protagonist. He is searching for greatness, longing to find his purpose in life. Naive, innocent, and discontent.
- Charles (40s – 60s): Pippin’s demanding father. As the King of the Holy Roman Empire, Charlemagne is more comfortable wielding a sword than breaking bread. He wears his years with great pride.
- Lewis (18 – mid 20s): Pippin’s half-brother. A “star” soldier; a proud, strong egotist; not too bright. Addicted to the physical, Lewis loves weightlifting, Lewis loves wrestling, but most of all Lewis loves Lewis.
- Theo (12 – 15): Catherine’s son. A small loveable boy.
Any Gender
- Leading Player (Any Age): The ultimate ‘ringleader.’ Masterfully charming and manipulative, a chameleon of sorts. It is The Leading Player who orchestrates the much-anticipated play’s “climax.” Strong dancer, comedic, and narrating skills.
Ensemble
- Ensemble Players: (16+) The players are used throughout the show to tell the story and push Pippin toward the ultimate Finale. Some ensemble members may do acrobatics and acting roles with speaking lines, including soldiers, monks, newscasters, peasants, nobles, and others.
