Auditions
Angel Street (Gaslight)
The Racine Theatre Guild will be holding open auditions for Angel Street (Gaslight) on Monday, September 7 at 7 p.m. and Tuesday, September 8 at 7 p.m.
ABOUT THE SHOW
Bella Manningham has been the picture of Victorian charm and grace as a devoted wife to her husband. Yet she feels herself slowly unraveling to the brink of insanity as secrets lurk in the shadows and reality blurs with deception. Mr. Manningham assures her that nothing is amiss with his debonair charisma, but Bella continues to be haunted by strange sounds in the house as objects go missing and gas lights flicker for no reason. The sinister, spine-chilling thriller mounts into a suspenseful cat and mouse game of manipulation and control you won’t want to snuff out.
ROLES / CASTING INFO
Looking for a diverse cast of strong singers/performers of any and all ethnicities and backgrounds. No experience is necessary to be part of the production.
Female/Female Presenting
- Mrs. Bella Manningham (20s – 40s): The victim. Was once a radiant beauty, has a haggard, wan, frightened air, with rings under her eyes. Sensitive, intelligent, and emotionally unraveling under pressure.
- Elizabeth (40s – 60s): Maid who has worked for Mrs. Manningham for quite some time. She is meek, scared, loyal and very, very worried about her Mistress’s mental health. She takes large risks to do what’s right.
- Nancy (18 – 30): Cheeky, taunting, outrageous flirt with overt ambitions to sleep with Mr. Manningham and become the lady of the house. She has many “admirers” and uses that to her advantage.
Male/Male Presenting
- Mr. Jack Manningham (30s – 50s): A little too well dressed. A smooth talker. His manner is charismatic, suave, and authoritative, but dangerous, shifting from warmth to chilling cruelty.
- Rough (30s – 60s): Friendly and overbearing detective. Easy laugh. Underneath an affable exterior lies a deeply determined man. The main driver of the plot, he spins a tale of high adventure and keeps the action moving within long passages of narration.
